Convert JVC Everio Camcorder .Mod file to AVI, MPEG, MPEG-2

If you get a JVC Everio and it saves the file as ".mod", but many video editing application prefer not to import them. How can you deal with this situation?
 

what is MOD format?

How do i transfer/upload/import JVC MOD files to computer?

Switch on your JVC camcorder and adjust it to "Play" or VCR mode, then have its cable attached to your computer. Locate the JVC .MOD files and copy them and paste to hard drive on you computer.

If you just want to play back .MOD video files on your Computer simply rename them to .MPEG or .MV2 and you should have no problem in opening and viewing your video clips in VLC or MPlayer.

Rename the extension on the JVC MOD file from .MOD to .MPEG. may not work sometimes.
