How to Play WMA on iPhone (iPhone 5s Included)

WMA (Windows Media Audio) is a common audio format used on Windows. If you have a Windows computer or just switch to Mac, you might get some audio files in WMA format. These files may be purchased from the Zune Media center or downloaded from other music sites. WMA can be freely played on Windows and some portable devices, however, due to some right protection or other reasons, it is impossible to play WMA on Apple products, neither on Macs nor iOS devices like iPhone. But don't worry, this article will show you the way to play WMA on Mac OS and iOS, taking playing WMA on iPhone as an example.

 

Method 1: For Mac Users

Step 1 Drag & Drop the WMA Files to the Converter

Step 2 Set Output Format & Launch the Conversion

Hit the "Profile" menu bar to open the output format list. As for playing music in iPhone, the best formats are MP3 and AAC, so you can choose either of them as the output profile.

If needed, you can press the "Settings" button next to the "Profile" bar to adjust the detailed output audio parameters. Besides, you can also trim or split the audio files with ease.

Thereafter, simply click the "Start" button to launch the conversion, and then connect your iPhone to Mac and transfer the converted files to it for smoothly playback.

 
 
 

Method 2: For Windows Users

In fact, iTunes for Windows has enabled users to convert WMA to iTunes AAC for playback on iPhone, iPad, etc. It is certain that if you can import the audio files to iTunes, you are able to transfer them to iPhone on Windows, here is how:

1) Launch iTunes, go to "File" and choose "Add file to library" toadd your .WMA files to the program. Then you will get this notice from iTunes:

2) Hit Convert , then the iTunes will start transcoding WMA to MP3 automatically.

3) The generated items will be added to the iTunes music library after the WMA to iTunes MP3 conversion is finished. To play these songs on your iPhone, you just need to connect your iPhone to your computer and sync the files to it as usual.

Special Note: If the WMA files are from Zune, Nokia Ovi or some other media centers which are probably DRM protected, you need to make them DRM-free first before conversion.
