Myspace - SNS for Music

Myspace (stylized as myspace, previously stylized as MySpace) is a social networking service with a strong music emphasis owned by Specific Media LLC and pop music singer and actor Justin Timberlake. Myspace was launched in August 2003 and is headquartered in Beverly Hills, California In April 2014, Myspace had 1 million unique U.S. visitors.

2003-2005: Beginning. Myspace was established in July, 2003 by Tom Anderson (MySpace's starting president), Chris DeWolfe (MySpace's starting CEO), and a group of programmers.

In July, 2005, Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation purchased Myspace's parent company eUniverse (now renamed Intermix Media) for US$580 million. 2008-2012: Decline. If we say the prosperous of Myspace is at the time when it was purchased by News Corporation. Then its decline we should is at the time when News Corporation sold it. On 19th April, 2008, Facebook has taken over Myspace in the Alexa rankings. And since then, Myspace began to lose its membership. Between 2008 and 2010, Myspace has drop down its value from $850 million to only $10 million. In June, 2011, Myspace was sold for $35 million, reported by CNN.

2012 till now: New Myspace. On 24th September, 2012, one of the owners of the company, Justin Timberlake, tweeted a link to a video showing the "new Myspace". Then it was kind of the return of Myspace. On January 13, 2013, new Myspace entered its open beta phase. Then on June 11, 2013, Myspace shut down all games on its platform. The next day, it announced that it will launch a mobile app to allow users to listen to personal radio stations and create animated GIF files.
