Transfer/upload/use videos from Canon vixia HF200 to computer

Question:
Hi, I transferred all the videos to my computer from Canon HF200 but It doesn't open MTS files. So, do i have to download some software that will convert those files and if so, then what is the best program i should use to convert and be able to see those files with HDMI quality?

The Canon VIXIA HF200 Flash Memory camcorder is smallest and lightest HD camcorder that allows to record up to 6 hours of crisp, high definition video (LP Mode) to a removable SDHC card. The MTS files are the video files. They are created by the AVCHD compression process in the camcorder. So how do i get the .MTS file type loaded onto my pc for editing?
