How to convert MXF files to QuickTime,MOV,AVI,MPEG on mac?

Trying to import MXF files from a Panasonic HVX200 or HPX300 on mac and find it plays fine in the preview but goes idle and unable to import into Final Cut Pro. So does anyone know of any way to convert MXF files into Quicktime,mov,mp4, that Final Cut Pro will be able to import?

What is MXF?

It is a file format, which is a derivative from the much maligned Advanced Authoring Format (AAF) specification, originally spearheaded by Microsoft, Apple and Avid, among others. MXF is a "container" or "wrapper" format which supports a number of different streams of coded "essence", encoded with any of a variety of codecs, together with a metadata wrapper which describes the material contained within the MXF file. MXF has been designed to address a number of problems with non-professional formats. MXF has full timecode and metadata support, and is intended as a platform-agnostic stable standard for future professional video and audio applications.
