||Digital Video File
||Developed by Apple Inc., MOV, a multimedia container format, is commonly used to store videos, audios, and text, timecode, etc. It can be played on both Mac and Windows platforms.
||DV is a format for storing digital video created by a digital video (DV) camera. Please note that the ".dv" extension is sometimes used for other video formats like QuickTime-DV or DV-AVI. Please use the proper program to open them.
||MOV files are of very high quality. It is now a widely adopted format recognized by computers and applications; incorporate multiple audio and video tracks independent of one another.
||DV uses intraframe compression. Each compressed frame depends entirely on itself, and not on any data from preceding or following frames.
||Since it is a container format with different codecs, it might not be able to playback on media players and editing software even they claims to be able to play MOV.
||It doesn't have a very good compatibility with most video editor software and media players.
|Help You Choose
||Many free video players support MOV format, like QuickTime Player, Windows Media Player and RealPlayer.
||If you want to enjoy the advantages of DV, you can encode AVI with DV, and for Mac users, encode QuickTime with DV.
